→ So apparently!! Tyler Shields has collected (is collecting?) the actual blood of 'around 20' celebrities to be displayed as the center piece for an upcoming gallery opening. He's painting with it and maybe something else. Not sure how to react to that, but I do think it's a great metaphor for celebrity culture. Generally I'm a fan of Tyler's work, which you can see examples of below (unaltered aside from resizing, click the image for a bigger version). I think my choices don't really give you an accurate idea of his obesession with white, black, and red, sex, violence, sex&violence, and the truly bizarre, but you get the idea. See his site for more, which at times can be NSFW so I'd wait until I got home to click. I'd especially check out his portfolio (his blog has ADD) and his video portraits you can find there. He definitely has a knack for capturing celebrities in a way that they generally aren't captured.



→ So yesterday I stopped off after work to get some sushi (cause clearly I'm addicted) and this adorable server caught me making a horrified expression when I first read the news above. I explained to him what I was doing (reading tweets!) and why I was making that expression. Then later when I was checking out, he starts gushing, total fanboy mode, about how his favorite celebrity is Zooey Deschanel and how he follows her on twitter but she's never tweeted him back, and how he thinks she's the perfect woman ever. It was really cute. (Not in a stalkery way.)

→ Have I mentioned how Panera Bread has the best mac & cheese in the known universe?

Cause they do.

→ FIC REC: ozmissage, light of my light, apple of my eye, etc. etc. wrote me Caroline/Stefan/Tyler which is to-die-for. Suspenseful and really does a good job of bringing them together in a believable compelling way. Whereas I like to subscribe to the Caroline Forbes way of thinking: just add sex. Which, don't get me wrong, has its merits. But it is not this, which is just gorgeous and so in-character and perfect! Go read it!

It was totally cute. It makes me want to bring him a Zooey-inspired present next time I go in. Like a She & Him album or something. IDK. But I probably won't. But I did think of it! If we ever get a chance to hang out I'll have to tell you which one he is. (If he's working.)

Wow, that's....weird LOL. But I agree, an interesting metaphor. Some of his shoots are really gorgeous but others are just disturbing lol. He does photograph a lot of celebrities though. You can pretty much find a shoot of anyone haha

Oh I dunno about anyone but he does have a Garrett Dillahunt shoot. Tyler definitely seems to have a type of celeb he prefers. A lot of obscure folks and up-and-comers, and then you throw in people like Zachary Quinto, Lindsey Lohan, and Danny Trejo to round out the odd collection. Plus! A homicidal Mickey Mouse! (And a lot of naked lady-butts!)

It's definitely weird, but like you said, interesting none-the-less. I wonder if he will reveal who his "donors" are? Haha.

I know Michael Trevino did a shoot with him recently and I want to see it but he hasn't posted any of the shots. I hope it's more on the "good" side of disturbing, lol.

I've never heard of Tyler Shields before, but I've seen the picture of Josh Hutcherson and that girl who's name I can't remember right now. I like all those pics, although some of them are kinda disturbing.

Oh, I've never tried Panera's mac & cheese. Every time I go there I get the baked potato soup, but perhaps I'll get the mac & cheese next time. It looks delicious!

It's shocking and controversial, but not all that surprising. I mean, when you think of his work, it kind of makes sense. I definitely consider him an artist and not just some guy who takes pictures, so I sort of respect it in a way but at the same times it's like, when do we go from art to being the Lady Gaga of photogs? LOL.

You definitely should stop by. Even if you get something other than their mac & cheese. They have good food.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd call Alessandra Torresani his "muse." She's been in quite a few of his videos and shoots. And not always with clothes on, lol. My favorite is one where she's hard core making out with Matt Dallas, but maybe that's just cause I get to see her making out with Matt Dallas who is very pretty, lol.

This is true but you know, I've been burned too many times. I don't trust any of the networks. Even the ones who can't afford to get rid of a quality show like this one.
