I think my grapes were pretty sour, and so this juice is also very tart, but I really like that. I swear I will post something with veggies in it soon. I'm working up to it. (Again, this made about 24-26 oz. of juice.)

This is just after juicing and before mixing. Colorful! (I don't know if other people shake their juices? I do.) I have a cheap-ish juicer so there's definitely some oxidation, as you can see.

Breakfast Juice #2
1 cup grapes
1/4 (to 1/2) cup blueberries
1 med to lg. comice pear, stem removed
1/2 lemon, peeled
1 green apple, stem removed
2 kiwifruit (I peeled these, but I don't actually know if it's necessary with my juicer, I figured the flavor would be better this way.)
1 lg. orange, peeled

Wash, peel, slice, or whatever you need to do to prepare your ingredients. Then juice!

I bought a juicer this week and here's a pretty delicious concoction I made this afternoon. I don't know what to call it. We'll call it Breakfast Juice #1:

3 med carrots, ends trimmed
2 sm to med pink lady apples, halved & stems removed (any apple will do!)
1 sm to med banana, peeled
1/2 (or 3/4) cup grapes (any variety)
1/2 (or 3/4) cup blueberries
1/2 lemon, peeled

Wash, peel, slice, or whatever you need to do to prepare your ingredients. Then shove it all into your juicer, and enjoy! Cause it's damn delicious!

It made about 24 ounces but that'd vary depending on the size of your ingredients. Probably not the healthiest juice in the world considering it's 80% fruit and it's got a banana. But I'm pretty sure I don't care even a little bit.

Comment to this post letting me know you want to participate, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random.

Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

→ So apparently!! Tyler Shields has collected (is collecting?) the actual blood of 'around 20' celebrities to be displayed as the center piece for an upcoming gallery opening. He's painting with it and maybe something else. Not sure how to react to that, but I do think it's a great metaphor for celebrity culture. Generally I'm a fan of Tyler's work, which you can see examples of below (unaltered aside from resizing, click the image for a bigger version). I think my choices don't really give you an accurate idea of his obesession with white, black, and red, sex, violence, sex&violence, and the truly bizarre, but you get the idea. See his site for more, which at times can be NSFW so I'd wait until I got home to click. I'd especially check out his portfolio (his blog has ADD) and his video portraits you can find there. He definitely has a knack for capturing celebrities in a way that they generally aren't captured.

→ So yesterday I stopped off after work to get some sushi (cause clearly I'm addicted) and this adorable server caught me making a horrified expression when I first read the news above. I explained to him what I was doing (reading tweets!) and why I was making that expression. Then later when I was checking out, he starts gushing, total fanboy mode, about how his favorite celebrity is Zooey Deschanel and how he follows her on twitter but she's never tweeted him back, and how he thinks she's the perfect woman ever. It was really cute. (Not in a stalkery way.)

→ Have I mentioned how Panera Bread has the best mac & cheese in the known universe?

Cause they do.

FIC REC: [livejournal.com profile] ozmissage, light of my light, apple of my eye, etc. etc. wrote me Caroline/Stefan/Tyler which is to-die-for. Suspenseful and really does a good job of bringing them together in a believable compelling way. Whereas I like to subscribe to the Caroline Forbes way of thinking: just add sex. Which, don't get me wrong, has its merits. But it is not this, which is just gorgeous and so in-character and perfect! Go read it!

Title: it seems that all of my bridges have been burned
Pairing: Stefan/Tyler/Caroline
Rating: PG-13 (violent imagery, character death)
Words: 2,716
Summary: It would be funny if he wasn’t one of the monsters. Spoilers through 2x17.

ETA: The Vampire Diaries was renewed! Yay! (Not that I was worried.)

→ I am sick. I am sick and I am irritated at certain people who happen to live here. So I am going to reject them in about 5 minutes and go get something to eat. Which really, I've been meaning to spend this 30 dollars that's been sitting here all week anyway. So *sticks out tongue* enjoy your spinach! I'm having sushi!

→ Except I need to be back in 45 minutes for The Vampire Diaries, so it will have to be sushi-to-go. And speaking of, words cannot express how nervous I am for all the eps leading up to the finale. So nervous! <-- Not adequate! Also? I miss Tyler. It's weird how attached to that storyline I had become. I have missed it. It's been like 5 episodes right? Or will be if you count tonight? That is too long!

→ As I'm sick I'm taking tomorrow off to "rest up." And basically just not being at work and dealing with the public when you're sick? = A good thing. So there's that. Also? If you cannot breathe and sound like your face is shoved into a pillow when you're talking? You should not have to go back to the car where your poor dog is waiting for you (in relatively cool weather, but still!) just to get ID to buy a 24 pack of decongestant. It's just cruel. I swear, I'm not going to cook up any crystal meth anytime soon. First of all, I'm too sick! Second of all, do I look like Walter White? I don't know shit about chemistry. Or cooking, for that matter.

→ Okay I'm running out of time to get sustenance before my show! Take it easy, folks!

Oh my gosh I want to make this recipe. Sounds really good.

Does anybody have any thoughts on my paining question from earlier?

YUM!

I can't wait to eat 'em!

Yes, I'm so lazy I made breakfast the night before. [This is what I've resorted to since being on the morning shift.] They are going in my toaster in the morning.

→ Modern Family! I'm so glad this show is back. Loved the premiere. ♥ This family needs to never leave my television screen.

→ I'm not really warming up so season three of Sons of Anarchy. One teeny thing though: 3.03 )

→ Tonight is a big night for TV comebacks apparently. Community! Oh my gosh I'm so excited! About Grey's and Fringe I'm only mildly excited/sorta interested. I can't explain it.

→ Apparently yesterday it was six years to the day that lost premiered. Seriously? What? I'm not ready for the time warp, Dr. Frank N Furter.

→ Oh my god, I can't write! *headdesk*

→ Did anybody watch The Event or Hawaii Five-O? I am thinking about trying both of them.

→ I don't know what I'm thinking, I watch too much as it is!

→ My folks are in Germany and I've been experimenting with grilling. I've never really grilled on my own. So far I've made a steak and two hamburger patties. I think I might try chicken tomorrow night. [I was going to do chicken tonight, but I thought I would make frozen pizza instead, lol.] Does anybody have any chicken grilling tips? How long do you keep it on each side? How hot do you want it? Do you turn it a lot? What's a good marinade? Etc.

→ Are leg warmers as a present for a three-year-old weird?

→ I have a crafty project I want to make for Halloween and one I want to make for Christmas -- maybe as Christmas gifts. Neither of them are too complicated so I'm crossing my fingers that they turn out alright. I'm not so much of a craft person -- but for some reason I want to try!

Yay! Popcorn!
This was fun.
It was my Haven treat. Kind of like a solo movie night only about an hour shorter.

[livejournal.com profile] sol_se linked to this great post by [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora, Iran Basics, History, Video, and linkspam for those of you who are keeping up or who want to know what is going on in Iran right now.

→ I think I'm going to make this pasta carbonara today. [livejournal.com profile] elohvee linked to the recipe a little while ago and I have been wanting to make it ever since. I don't have the right kind of pasta, but I do have those cute bowties (which are not called bowties, actually) and so I think that will make a good substitute.

→ This post is going to be shorter than I intended.

Let's ignore silly California for a minute and talk about what I had for dinner, which was this: SANY0417

I made shrimp scampi and a fabulous knockoff of Chipotle's lime rice. I copied the recipe down from online -- it really it tastes just like it. It's super delicious!
