The first character I fell in love with: It's a hard one with this show. Probably Stefan, Elena, or Caroline, and maybe in that order. For a long time I wasn't really loving anybody, I was just along for the ride. I remember Jenna throwing an apple at Jeremy in one of the very first episodes and I thought: I love this girl. But I don't know if that really counts, haha. I'm so bummed they didn't do more with her character. This show is allergic to grown-ups.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Tyler Lockwood? But no. Even with his behavior in the first season I had so much sympathy for him. That episode where his dad tries to get Tyler and Jeremy to fight it out? He had me from that moment, pretty much. And that was early on. The real answer to this question is probably Katherine Pierce and Elijah equally. (Also, Rose, John Gilbert, and Liz Forbes.)

The character everyone else loves that I don't: Oh I'm going to get burned for this one, but Damon and Alaric pretty equally. Damon's character arc makes me nutso, even though I do find him amusing, and I just think Alaric is boring. They're like two of the most-loved characters in this show, so I'm in the minority on these two.

The character I love that everyone else hates: Liz Forbes and miss Bonnie Bennett!

The character I used to love but don't any longer: ...None? I guess, if this counts, I liked the idea of Klaus more than I liked Klaus in actuality. Hopefully that changes in S3.

The character I would shag anytime: Stefan Salvatore

The character I'd want to be like: Some combination of Bonnie Bennett, Caroline Forbes, and Elena Gilbert. They are all pretty awesome in my opinion.

The character I'd slap: Damon. ;P

My five favorite characters: Caroline Forbes, Stefan Salvatore, Elena Gilbert, Tyler Lockwood, and... Katherine Pierce?

My five least favorite characters: Damon Salvatore, Alaric Saltman, Isobel, Mason Lockwood, & Jules

My deep dark fandom secret: I don't really have any secrets. I ship a lot of weird things. I don't like Damon. I think Elena is awesome and am severely protective of her character. And I pretty much just love this show. I am terrified (and almost certain) that season three is going to suck and I am going to hate it.

Lol we'd agree on most of this except that Damon and Alaric are my favorites. But I started watching because of Ian and I started actually giving a damn when Alaric happened, so. But I'll agree with you 100% on Damon needing a slap most times and on wanting to shag Stefan. Also I love Elena so hard, so I'll be protective of her with you. Also I LOVE BONNIE! I'LL LOVE HER WITH YOU. She's fierce, haters should just shut up.

I totally knew that about you, haha. All I can say is that I guess I just don't get it. And if I were an Alaric fan, I'd be kind of mad at the material he was given in S2. I felt like all he did most of the time was be in the same room as people. That was his entire story almost. That and keeping secrets from Jenna.

And OH MY GOD I totally don't get all the Bonnie hate! Where does it come from and why? I love her for her outspoken ways and how she does the right thing even if it irritates her to have to align with certain people. Haha.

I'm pretty much on board with all that except Alaric, he's pretty much third behind Stefan and Caroline for me, but I agree that he wasn't on often enough last season (I heard they planned to kill him in S1, maybe they needed time to figure out what to do with him). Alaric is just so broken and twisted in so many ways, but still with a strong core of goodness and humor, and I love writing characters like that. I hope they do more with him in S3. I don't like Damon either, but I love their chemistry (though I'd probably jump ship if someone better came along ;-)).

Tyler is a good example of how well these writers can develop characters when they try. He went from being a bully who almost date-raped Vicki to someone who recognizes his problems, regrets the things he did, and tries to control himself (though I wish they'd done more with him trying to make up everything he did or didn't do to Caroline - a redemption arc would have been really satisfying).

Also, I love both Bonnie and Katherine. This new Becky character sounds so similar to Katherine, though, I'm sort of worried that they're killing off Katherine and bringing Becky in as a replacement.

I don't think I will ever agree with anyone on Alaric. I don't think I've met a single fan as uninterested in him as I am. I would have rather Jenna lived, personally. And I can't tell you how many times I've heard that "we were going to kill him in ep. X but kept him on" and felt like they should have stuck with their original plan. Of course, it's also happened one or two times where it turned out well. I'm pretty sure that was said of Spike from Buffy. That he wasn't supposed to end up living past so long, but they kept him on. Which, I think was a good decision.

I honestly think the fact that he left town and wasn't coming back is a pretty big thing. From everything that's been said canonically about that, it was done to protect his family and friends (from himself) and to make up for what he did to Caroline. It could have been shown in the text, but it worked for me because it was a very humble way to do it. If he had chased after her and tried to make her forgive him, it wouldn't have worked as well for me. But then, I have major problems with how they handled Caroline's story in the last 5 episodes or so. She was just background girl. It was infuriating.

I do enjoy Katherine a lot. Especially her back story and how she really just misses her mom. That whole thing with her kind of gets to me even just thinking about it. The baby, and losing her entire family. Yeah. She's so clever too, I like that about her. And she's awful but she doesn't try to make it seem like she's anything else or like she should be excused for it, or like she's doing it for anybody's own good, you know? So I can respect that, lol.

I don't know who Becky is, but I'm sure she's going to annoy me, lol. Katherine is the perfect Katherine. We don't need another one. She's good enough for me! And honestly, I was anticipating Katherine making a disappearing act, just for poor Nina's sake. But I don't like the idea of a replacement.

Don't know what S3 (or the end of S2) has in store, so I can't talk to you about that, but...

OMG, I ♥♥♥ Bonnie and Caroline soooo much! And Katherine is so wily - I love badass chicks like that. Also - Bonnie's Grams (can't remember her name, so I'll just call her Roxy from DLM). Oh, I want her back so much!

I like Stefan quite a bit and I don't know why everyone ships Elena/Damon. Damon is so wishy-washy to me. He has his moments, but I think he would've been a stronger character if he wasn't so hung up over Elena. They just make him seem like the jealous brother - 145 years later and I think he is so much more than that. I contribute that to bad writing though because I pretty much love all his scenes with Katherine.

I like Alaric well enough simply because of the whole "hunter" aspect of him. I'm a sucker for stories where people get into the business for revenge, but then start to see how they protect innocent lives by killing monsters.

I still can't really forgive Tyler for his douchiness in S1, but maybe he'll keep growing on me.

And yeah, talk about an allergy to adult development. I feel like they can only be involved if they're in some crazy romance no one gives a crap about.

Sheila Bennett was her name. I'm so proud of myself for remembering that off the top of my head! I totally agree! It still makes me nuts that Bonnie's grandmother basically died because she was too weak to perform that spell and Jasmine Guy is still (to this day!) under 50 years old! The woman is not a feeble grandmother! Frustrating!

They just make him seem like the jealous brother This is true. It is kind of annoying that he's the most immature of them in a sea of teenagers. Come on, Damon. Get it together! Haha.

I feel like I might like Alaric better if they hadn't dropped the ball on his character. I don't feel like they've given him anything to do other than follow people (usually Damon) around. Unfortunately.

I think, even from the start, they always played with the complexities of Tyler's character. If you finish s2 and go back to re-watch season one, I think you will definitely see it. He was always played as incredibly conflicted, not really understanding himself, dealing with his dad, etc. It's definitely nuanced but it's definitely there. They definitely foreshadowed his wolf nature and how it effected him during the full moon.

This scene in this clip: http://youtu.be/dS17niJiwDg starting at 2:26 is probably one of my favorite scenes with him. Especially those last seconds where him and his mom just look at each other like they don't know what to do with one another. Yeah. I love me some Tyler Lockwood.

The first character I fell in love with: Margene
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Joey (too bad they completely forgot about him in the final season.)
The character everyone else loves that I don't: I have no idea what fandom's perceptions are about this show.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Again, I just don't know.
The character I used to love but don't any longer: I used to have respect for Bill. By the end, I didn't anymore.
The character I would shag anytime: Sarah's husband? LOL.
The character I'd want to be like: Sarah? Everyone else had so much baggage and were so twisted. She was by far the most normal. And she knew what she wanted and she got out and made a new life for herself.
The character I'd slap: Oh gee who wouldn't I slap?
My five favorite characters: Barb, Margene, Sarah, Don, Joey, JoDean, & Kathy.
My five least favorite characters: Rhonda, Roman, Barb's sister & mother, and the Greens in general, JJ, Adaleen, Frank, Lois, Bill, annnd, basically everyone?
My deep dark fandom secret: I wanted Barb and Tommy to hook up. I hope she tracks him down and hangs out in his wigwam some more at some point in her life.

The first character I fell in love with: Probably Helo! Actually. Even before Kara.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Saul Tigh (and Ellen Tigh... basically the Tighs in general.)
The character everyone else loves that I don't: Number 3 or Roslin. I enjoyed Roslin at times but I didn't even remotely carry the intense love for her that everyone else did.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Leoben? (I don't even know if people hate him, actually.)
The character I used to love but don't any longer: I hate to say this, but by the end Adama was just a mess of a character that I didn't care to look at any more.
The character I would shag anytime: Uh.. Leoben. (Or Sam.)
The character I'd want to be like: I admire Lee, Helo, Athena, Kara, Chief, and Sam all in different ways. I don't know if I'd want to be like any one of them though.
The character I'd slap: Cavill?
My five favorite characters: Kara, Sam, Ellen, Leoben, Six in any incarnation, & Baltar
My five least favorite characters: By the end both Roslin and Adama, Three, Tory, and Tory
My deep dark fandom secret: Baltar always tickled me. Is that a secret? I don't know. I don't have any secrets. I need to re-watch this show. It's all such a blur.

I don't know if it was Tory herself or if it was just what they did to her in that last season. She was sleeping with Baltar and somehow coming across as the WEIRD ONE in that relationship, killing Callie, and just generally making me want her to disappear. It was frustrating.

Yeah, I really didn't like where Tory was going in the end there either, but for some strange reason it was focused more as annoyance at the show itself for writing her that way, rather than the actual character.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Nina.Nina!NINA!NINA!NINA! (LOVE LOVE LOVE.)
The character everyone else loves that I don't: Herrick? I didn't understand the fascination.

The character I used to love but don't any longer: Mitchell. He was ruined for me.
The character I would shag anytime: Can I vote for no one? Haha.
The character I'd want to be like: NINA!
The character I'd slap: All of these characters have moments where they need a good slap. Whether it's because they're freaking out and panicking, or because they are being jerks. Either one.
My five favorite characters: I... I don't know.
My five least favorite characters: Same.

The character I'd slap: I go back and forth with Haddie. Seriously, girl knows how to get on someone's nerves!
My five favorite characters: Amber, Joel, Julia, Crosby, Drew, Kristina & Sarah (It's clear by now I just ignore the numbers right?)
My five least favorite characters: It was Zeek, but he's really turned around this season. I even like Seth!
My deep dark fandom secret: I think Kristina and Adam should let Joel and Julia adopt their baby. (Random, I have no secrets, I just thought of something on the fly.)

The first character I fell in love with: Jason Street, for obvious reasons. And I will say this again, because I know I've said it before: He was all those things they said he was.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Buddy Garrity!
The character everyone else loves that I don't:
The character I love that everyone else hates:
The character I used to love but don't any longer:
The character I would shag anytime: Matt Saracen probably.
The character I'd want to be like: Tami Taylor
The character I'd slap: In the earlier seasons? Buddy Garrity. But also Becky's father and step-mother. And anybody on the booster club. JD McCoy, Mr. McCoy. And anybody who ever tried to hurt Tami Taylor, cause the woman is SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU. THE END. (And Julie Taylor, but Tami took care of that for me!)
My five favorite characters: Aside from the above I'd say I loved just about anybody.
My five least favorite characters: As far as regular characters go, the only one I had a continuing problem with was Julie Taylor. They did a better job with her in the last season than they had in any of the other seasons, to be honest. I finally liked the girl.
My deep dark fandom secret: Hating Julie Taylor? Thinking that Riggins needed a bath? Loving Billy and Mindy? And Becky and Mindy's friendship? And hating the fact that they just THREW Tim and Tyra together in the end as some kind of consolation prize?(And never getting closure for Tyra and Landry?) I actually LIKED season two and the whole murder plotline. Even the show-runner has written that off as bad.

It's funny b/c Juliet had all the qualities I usually like in female characters. She was strong, had an interesting story, and she was an outsider for a time. Yet she was never my absolute fav and I can't begin to understand why.
