1) I'm going to have to go with Buffy on this one, mostly because it didn't have the epic levels of fail that I always associate with Angel due to Cordelia's character. Other than that though? It's a total toss up. Buffy wins.
2) Priya for sure.
3) Ugh this one is really hard. I love Ned/Chuck but I am going to go with Jaye/Eric on this one and I have no idea why.
1) I'm going to go with Shameless on this one. BUT BOTH ARE AMAZING OKAY? But Shameless has flawless characters and relationships whereas The Killing is so reserved when it comes to the whole... expression of emotion stuff... with the exception of the Larsens who are always pretty raw, like open wounds. But yeah, SHAMELESS. (This is my sad face. You have done this to me.)
2) WHY WOULD YOU ASK ME THIS? Okay, I choose Holder just because of how much he tries (and fails, poor baby) and how much he loves Jack and how he takes care of Linden, which in essence is like loving Linden which means I'm basically choosing both. But for the purposes of this meme, I choose Stephen Holder.
1) The Vampire Diaries. Pretty much hands down. I was unhappy with season three of this show but the pacing and the craziness and the vampyness trumps GA on most days that end in Y.
2) I HAVE NO IDEA WHO TO PICK!!! How is this possible? I'm going to have to default to picking which one could beat the other in a boxing match. The answer is TOTALLY Arizona Robbins. FOR SURE.
3) Claire/Jack/Sawyer. I think eventually I might feel differently about this, but CJS is still my OT3 to end all OT3s.
Your TVD/GA answer intrigues me (and of course, it's your answer so I'm not saying it's wrong!!!)
I'd have to compare the first three seasons of TVD with the first three seasons of GA. And because I basically think the first three seasons of GA were three of the most flaw-free in the genre, GA wins for me, hands down.
Okay well. I would agree with you if I could erase season 3 from my memory entirely. I actually quit watching GA that season because I was so fed up with it. I can't really pinpoint why but I basically quit mid-season 3 and didn't start back up again until season 5? I went back and watched some of Lexie's early episodes but I still haven't caught up on everything I missed during that time. Although I do know some stuff that happened through the pop culture machine.
I think in general TVD is more exciting and has the benefit of having its own mythology and fun stuff like that. And well? It has a plot? I know that sounds terrible to say but GA has one plot and it's: here are all these surgeons and their complicated/dramatic/sometimes interesting/sometimes not lives. It's personal drama with a little bit of plot every now and then. Whereas the plot of TVD is more of an adventure with personal drama thrown in. If that makes sense? It's so hard to compare them though, because they're two totally different kinds of shows. Obviously, though, GA wins 80% of the time in terms of character depth and dialogue.
GA wins 80% of the time in terms of character depth and dialogue. I actually appreciate this more than plot most of the time, which is probably what sways me even more strongly in the direction of GA. For example, I can just watch whole scenes of the interns interacting in the cafeteria or at Joe's in the early seasons where basically nothing happens except snark and awesome-ness (and occasionally a hot dog eating competition)!! Haha!
Show → Shameless or Generation Kill Character → Claire from-lost-whose-last-name-escapes-me or Boomer Pairing → April/Jackson or Emily/Nolan Anything → Me or Miss Kitty
1) I pick Shameless but I want you to know that you are a SUPREME JERK FOR ASKING ME THIS. 2) Fanon? CLAIRE (Littleton) Canon? BOOMER. (Except that part where she hooks up with Cavil. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?) 3) I'm going to go with April/Jackson. DAMMIT I HATE THIS GAME. (Kudos to you for picking the hardest categories ever.) 4) You actually think I'd pick that fucking cat over you? I am really appalled.
1) Sad face. I'm going to have to go with The Killing on this one. 2) UGH. This is unfair but I'm going with Holder just because of the care that has been put into drawing his character. I feel like I know him. While I love Caroline, I feel like she gets the brush off and often in her scenes she just fills some kind of archetypal role rather than actually being Caroline if that makes sense. 3) I REFUSE. 4) Sunset! (Mostly because I'm awake for it.)
Show) This one's hard but I'm going to go with Revenge on this one. I feel like Haven lost me a bit last season. I think the thing with Julia and the tattoo just completely being dropped just bothered me. If it was minor, it'd be one thing. But an entire character that was clearly tied to a MAJOR storyline just disappeared and never explained. BOO.
Character) Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird It's a plane! (Did my distracting you not work?) I legitimately can't choose between these two. It's impossible.
Pairing) What is the most basic article of faith? This is not all that we are. (But I still love Audrey/Duke like burning.)
Anything) I HATE YOU. Ugh. I'm going to have to go with Joel on this one only because he occupies so much of my headspace at the moment. But in the really real world this would be a total toss-up.
