We're going to take a break on Galactica!Libs for now. (But don't forget to go vote in yesterday's poll! Here.)

Instead, I'm going to talk about real live cylons. Or you know, the possibility thereof.

Last night I found the following video. If you can believe it, it was one or two related videos away from the "no crying in basebaell!" clip from A League of Their Own. (Call it an experiment.)

One thing that struck me about this robot, was that it looked almost organic, in a way. Just in the way it's designed, I guess. It reminded me kind of of that sea-life or those goldfish with no pigment. Cause you can almost see through to its components. It looks like something you'd "dissect" rather than take apart. Obviously, it sounds and moves robotically, maybe it's just the clever design or the jointy-ness of it that was particularly mesmerizing.

After thirty minutes (or just two) I scrolled through related videos and found this:

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit freaked. I mean, she's no Number Six, and they've certainly got a long way to go. But creepy? Yes it is. They even have creepy futuristic sci-fi names. Actroids.

Flashforward fifty years: Will be in the midst of the first Actroid revolution?

I think the craziest part is when they zoom in on her face and her eyes are moving and the lashes and just. Eeek! There are a lot of others in the related vids, but she's the only one I found that was speaking English. Some of them look even more realistic. Their mouths are the worst part though.

I have a feeling, though I did absolutely no research, that this is sorta like Jim Hensen. Somewhere behind the scenes are probably a bunch of puppeteers controlling her every movement. And honestly, if that's the case, it makes her simultaneously less cool, and less creepy. But still!

What does everybody think of the possibility of actual humanoid robots? Yes? No? Get that frakking thing away from me? Etc. etc.

ETA: Dancing Robots. Seriously amazing. I'm convinced there's little people inside:

ETA2: An android saying goodbye to his creators. Um... seriously? They tell him they love him. He says goodbye to a baby who reaches up and touches his face. Wow. But he also tells him that "one day I will come and find you." Creepy! Even though it looks a bit staged. The robot is all, "I love you like a brother." And the dude is like, "You're awesome." Hahaha. Okay. I'm stepping away from youtube now. Hahaha. PROMISE.

BRB, gotta go call the blade runners.
