life is a single skip for joy

So, as you can see I still ship all the wrong things. Here's what I want for Fandom Christmas (since I am going to have so much post-surgery downtime):

1. Some really fun Raven/Bellamy (The 100) fic.
2. Some so-wrong-that-it's-right Jay/Lisa (Kingdom) fic.
3. Some Bonnie/Damon (Gasp! TVD) fic.
4. Some Holder/Linden (The Killing) fic. (Yeah I know this qualifies as the "right" thing.)
5. Some Ben/Chon/O (Savages/Kings of Cool) fic. (Um, also right.)
6. Some old school Jack/Claire (Lost) fic.
7. Some ignores-the-current-season Duke/Audrey (Haven) fic.
8. Some classically angsty but also criminally sexy Gale/Katniss (The Hunger Games) fic.


I guess I don't ship ALL the wrong things. Just mostly.

→ Is anybody else having issues with Firefox? I just upgraded to the newest version after holding out at 3.9 (I think it was 3.9) for the majority of the year. I haven't even had a chance to play with the new version really (I literally just updated it before making this post.) But I have been annoyed with all of the other updates I tried (and then abandoned) this year. We used to be so tight, but I feel like Firefox has had an identity crisis this year and it's almost time for us to just break up. (Our relationship is starting to resemble an abusive one.)

→ I am kind of POed at The Vampire Diaries right now. ( because BLANK and BLANK )

→ Watched and loved Attack the Block, for those of you playing along at home.

→ I don't know if I'm going to do cards this year. I'm feeling kind of scatterbrained lately and it's already later than I usually ask for sign ups. Some people have asked for exchanges and I'll do them, but I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to pull myself together to send a bunch of stuff out. I can barely keep up with stuff that's going on as it is. (And I still have fic to read, and holiday fic to get a head start on!) I'll probably make the decision by next week, no later.

→ Speaking of Christmas, I have started my shopping. So far I've purchased a kickass Lightsaber for a 4 year old girl who loves Darth Vader, a power rangers watch for one of my nephews, and a real legit FiOS remote control (from eBay) for a 1 year old with an irrepressible addiction to all electronics with buttons. (His parents will thank me.)

→ Finished Mindy Kaling's book this week. It was adorable and funny. I think it wasn't as good as Bossypants for me, although in some ways it was slightly better (if that makes sense). Definitely check it out if you have the slightest interest in it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

→ Everyone who hasn't needs to watch Shameless. Just saying. I sort of secretly revised my new shameless vid: fumbling through the gray and I'm burying this "announcement" in the middle of this post because this is something that I rarely (if ever) do. I just sneakily went in and replaced the source files. (Except on Tumblr which, as usual, hates me and won't let me edit the post at all - not even the tags!) This may be a dishonest and underhanded thing to do, but I had posted it in a sleep-deprived state at 5 in the morning and I just needed it to be more perfect, you know? [Guffaw.] Anyway, for those who care and who actually read this post, there is a new version up now.

→ I recently changed my ringtone from You Can Call Me Al, back to Twisted Nerve (the whistle from Kill Bill) which I have used for, literally, years. I can't really decided if this was a good move or not. I am kind of missing the Paul Simon.

→ I have 19 movies to watch before the end of the year to meet my standard goal of "100 new movies every year." Anybody have any suggestions for what to watch to fill in those last 19 slots? There are a couple of documentaries I've been planning on watching, but other than that and new stuff coming out in theaters I'm not sure. I may just end up binging on old noirs on Netflix streaming, if all else fails. ( what i've watched this year so far )

→ So I was over at Oliv3r earlier and I saw this image for that new show Nikita (which I have no real interest in watching, especially now). Observe:

What? Am I the only one who has a problem with this? She's wearing no pants! And this is supposed to be her "kicking-butt" gear? Seriously? I guess maybe if she wasn't obviously about to go on a mission with no pants, it wouldn't be so bad. If she were laying in bed or having a bath or holding a glass of wine instead of a weapon perhaps. But otherwise... put on some pants. I mean, if you can take the time to put on what looks like extremely complicated gloves, you could at least put on some pants. S'all I'm saying!

→ I did not get a chance to watch The Walking Dead pilot last night so hopefully I'll get that shot today. I'm having reservations about it. I haven't really seen anybody talking about it. What did you guys think? (Unspoilery please.)

→ The Lost Ho!Ho!Ho! Sign-ups went up today. I signed up even though every single time I sign up to give a gift it kind of terrifies me ten seconds later. I think it should be fun anyway. Sign-ups last one week.

→ Speaking of ho!ho!ho!s I think I'm going to do that LJ wish list thing again this year. I may post that a little later.

→ If there were any sign of life in the Harper's Island fandom I might run the stocking stuffer exchange again this year but it's looking pretty grim. Hell, I don't even write it anymore. Even though I loved the heck out of that show it seems like it was just one of those things that never caught on in a fandom way. Sadly.

The Switch

I forgot to review this the other night. I gotta say -- the stuff with Bateman and the kid was beyond adorable just like it was in the trailer. I really liked this movie and for some reason walked away from it loving Juliette Lewis a lot. I feel like I haven't seen her in anything in a really long time and her character was fun in this. Sweet, funny, predictable, but I liked it!

The Social Network
Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Armie Hammer, Armie Hammer, Max Minghella
I really got a bit of a Shattered Glass feel from the trailer and I kind of walked away thinking my instincts were right. I loved Shattered Glass, and I can't help but watch it if it's ever on TV, but I can't help but feeling a bit icky inside when I do. Same goes for this film. Performances were great, editing was insane in parts ( Commence spoilery bits )

It kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about the Atlantis team with a christmas tree so I think that's why I wrote it. There may be some Alex/Sawyer out there with a christmas theme, but as that's an unfinished fic, we won't discuss it. *hides*

→ ageless_aislynn made me an awesomely cute Sawyer/Claire (LOST) video for me for Christmas. She is such a doll! I couldn't have loved it more, very silly and sweet. (Maybe a little naughty.) It's to Bad Things by Jace Everett (the True Blood theme song) and can be found here. She is too good to me.

→ I was so so shocked on Christmas day to recieve not one but three amazing yuletide fics. (I'm not sure how that happened! It's my first year participating, so I certainly didn't expect that!) They all ended up being Cameron/Derek from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which is definitely one of my favorite pairings of the year. If you're into them, you should definitely check them out. I was certainly treated very well this year.

I can't even really express how great this fic is. Definitely the best Mark/Lexie I've read to date. I could so see things playing out on the show this way. Money well spent. (And for a good cause too!)

→ I loved last night's True Blood. I'm sure I could comment more. And I'm sure there were some things I didn't like, but for the most part? That was awesome. As usual. They cram so much into one episode it's crazy. Two really quick things: ( bill's girl + admiral cain ) I know that's not much but, what can I say? I'm a minimalist.

→ ( a rant about wednesday... so-to-speak ) Don't hate me because I'm intolerant of other people's week day preferences, okay? It's how I was brought up. It's not my fault. Friday is best, Wednesday forces me choke back the vomit. It's genetic. It's a very serious illness.

→ I was going to talk about a certain BSG spoiler (not plotty) but I think the cat is already out of the bag on that one. And I'm usually a spoiler-phobe when it comes to BSG so I'm surprised I even read it myself.

→ I had butter tarts for the first time yesterday. My parents brought them back from Ottawa. Mmm, good. Now I understand why you Canadians are such a nice and friendly bunch. It's the butter tarts!

→ I finished almost all of my Christmas shopping this morning. But I cheated and I shopped online. And only 2 items were of the DVD/CD variety. I'm truly proud. I have some final things to get, grandma and friends online, but the majority of it is done! And I think everyone is going to love what I got them, which is a really great feeling. Wee! Christmas!

→ I'm going to go watch TSCC on my DVR now.
