krickets: (BSG. boomer; does it change?)
So I just got done watching the series finale of Entourage. I don't know many of you who watch it, but I am feeling surprisingly bereft now that it is over. It's still so strange to me how much I ended up loving that show, despite its down moments. (And it did have them!) No spoilers here, just thought watching the end of an "era" go by merited some kind of entry. I will definitely miss it. And they couldn't have played a better song for the final scene.

Going to California, Led Zeppelin

I do hope that they end up making the movie they want to make. But even if they don't? That would probably be okay too.

*sniffle*

→ I need to talk about things. I've been a bad flister lately I think. I feel like part of it is having two jobs now and less time. And the other part of it is just random not-posting-fun-things-for-no-reason. I apologize, please forgive me.

→ Anybody remember last year when I was doing that cute animal poll and then I totally forgot about it? Yeah, me either.

→ I just want to say hello to everyone attending Vividcon this year. I know you all will enjoy it and personally I am just excited for the new vids to start cropping up! Yay for new vids.

→ I keep thinking about how there's so much TV starting back/starting anew this fall and my brain starts to leak out of my ears. I have no idea how I'm going to watch everything I want to watch. It's not going to be easy, but by gosh I'll give it a try! One show I'm looking forward to that I've heard pretty much nobody talking about is called Whitney. It's a comedy and it's coming on NBC (don't quote me on that) -- it looks pretty clever. I'm also super excited to see The Beek playing himself in Apartment 23 at mid-season. I have no idea why this excites me so much, but I have this weird sort of love for him now. I blame twitter. (And those GIFs from last year.)

→ True Blood? What can I say, I haven't truly watched it since the second episode of the season. I have skimmed through all the rest. Basically I am aware of what's happening with Jason, Jessica, Bill (sorta), Sookie (sorta)... and everyone else I have only paused long enough to get bits and pieces. *shrug* I may or may not legitimately catch up eventually. Currently it's leaning toward not. We'll see!

→ Haven! I haven't watched last week's yet, but it's still filling that Haven-size hole in my TV scheduling. It's a simple show and I enjoy it. Duke is still my favorite. The end.

→ The Glades. Meh. I have no idea what their ratings are like but I'll be surprised if they're renewed for a third season. It's just not as fun as it was last season. I really wish they'd delve a little deeper. I want to keep loving it because I actually do have an affection for these characters, but it's kind of hard when they don't put any real effort into being something more than open and shut case of the week.

→ Entourage! (Look! I am excited!) I am a little perplexed by the fact that A) I ever watched this show in the first place, let alone from the start, B) The characters are so well-defined C) It's been on so long, D) It's ending, and E) That this season is turning out to be so darn good! I could do without certain recurring guest stars, but overall I am just enamored with this show again and I feel like by the time it's over that I won't ever want it to end.

→ Parks & Rec. Finally watched it (am still watching it). Skipped the entire first season which was nearly physically painful for me. I am such a completist and it goes against my entire tv-watching nature. But I was doing this whole "let me watch everything I can on netflix if they're going to overcharge my ass." And it sort of happened and now.. I'm just a few episodes away from the season 3 finale. And I've enjoyed myself. Imagine that.

→ LUTHER. This show has a serious problem with creepy killers who target women in the most fucked up, brutal, creepy way possible. Enough with that already. But aside from that, I'm loving this show. It's so dark and twisty and has a great cast and good writing and Idris Elba, who has more screen presence than you can shake a stick at. (Ruth Wilson too.) Good show. Watch it.

→ Hi new friends!

→ I think I'm done for now.

→ So, I think I kind of have a new show. Observe:

[source.]
It's called Haven and it's on SyFy and that's Eric Balfour & Emily Rose, two of its stars. Duke and Audrey, respectively. It's pretty much... a SyFy show, but I am still digging it.

→ True Blood this season is much better than last season I think. By the end of last season I was pretty much ready to give it all up. I'm a bit disappointed in a couple of minor things book-related. like... ) And it will always be that show where at the end of it I say to myself "what the fuck just happened there?" But I suppose that's part of its charm. Also charming? ) And yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say. Still watching, and it's still as batshit crazy as ever. The end.

→ I watched the first two eps of Eureka season four even though I'd never seen a single episode before. Why? James motherfrakkin' Callis, ladies and gentlemen. I do have a soft spot for the man and I just couldn't help myself. Now I am wanting to catch up with the whole series so I can consume season four as fast as possible. The way the stories are told and production-wise it reminds me a lot of Stargate: Atlantis actually. I'm looking forward to that.

→ Huge. I watched the first two eps of this show and liked it enough to continue, but I keep missing it! I will have more to say when I've caught up. I pretty much like everyone except for that main character. Normally, not a good sign. But I'm willing to persist.

→ I may be the only other human being I know that still watches this show, but I am really liking Entourage this season. In terms of in depth storytelling, they've never exactly been the greatest. But in terms of entertainment and character continuity and random crap that makes you laugh? They are king. mini spoilers? sorry! ) What could be better?

→ Persons Unknown. Still watching. Still enjoying. It keeps throwing curveballs at me, actually and I have no idea what's going to happen next. I kind of wish they'd do more character stuff because those moments when they've gone there have been the best ones in my opinion. But whatever, they can do what they want. I'll still probably watch until the end. It's a mini-series, might as well.

→ I heard there's a new preview for Sons of Anarchy that kicks ass. Someone link me?

→ On a non-tv related note, I have some music I want to share but I'll do that later.

→ lost squee luau. currently kicking my ass. *gasps for air*

krickets: (STOCK. fields of gold.)
→ I've been watching a lot of cute, light movies lately, just because sometimes you really do need the fluff. Anyway, tonight I watched this movie:

I know we're not supposed to technically like lifetime movies (right?), but this was really cute. And the guy in it, Robert Buckley, is totally adorable. So yes, recommended.

→ Has anyone ever had a mango nectarine? I'm assuming it's some kind of hybrid fruit like the pluot (plum and apricot baby!) maybe? I bought two today and don't really know what to expect. It looks yummy though!

→ Speaking of things I'm not supposed to like. Apparently Jamie Lynn Sigler and Jerry Ferrara from Entourage are dating in real life? I did not know this but I think it's kind of adorable, especially since I love their interaction on the show. I'm two episodes behind the current season, but will hopefully catch up soon.

→ I was hoping to post fic tonight but it's not really coming together at the moment. Though I did write a Grey's Anatomy, Mark/Owen fic that was posted two days ago. Which no one on my flist might have noticed cause I actually was so nervous about it when I posted that I had it privated and only later that night made it public. (Not that there are any real Grey's fans on my flist anyway.) But honestly, I am just very new to writing the show and those characters and was feeling a little self-conscious. Has anybody else ever written a fic and just been absolutely terrified to post it? Yeah. That was me.

krickets: (TEXT. i am irritating every day.)
[livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee just started up [livejournal.com profile] what_weread, a book reccing community. Sounds pretty awesome.

→ I got rid of my BSG header. I just needed a change but am too afraid to do anything huge. I think this makes it look a lot different. Well see how long I keep it. I should change some of the colors up too.

→ Congrats to [livejournal.com profile] gigglemonster who graduates tomorrow! *throws confetti & old textbooks!*

→ I watched the remake of The Last House on the Left yesterday. Holy Garrett Dillahunt, batman! That was pretty disturbing. Won't get into details but, um, some scenes just went on a little longer than was comfortable. I'm sure that was the point. But aside from that I thought it held up pretty well to the original. I'm sure hard core horror fans would probably agree. [And how does Tony Goldwyn still look so young? Wasn't Ghost like 20 years ago?]

→ I just finished watching season five of Entourage. I'm slow, okay? But it was awesome. I don't know what it is with this show but it wins me over every time. Does anybody even know if/when it's coming back?

Harper's Island. Loved this last ep. No discussion. Just, yeah. It's on.

→ A call to the flist: Who are your favorite icon makers? Stock, fandom, whatever. I'm on the hunt and trolling comms is not always the best way to find good stuff. Especially when people lock everything.

→ Which is one of my pet peeves! How do I want to know if I want to join your stupid comm if everything is behind a lock? Plus it just puts a bitter taste in my mouth. Especially after getting to the error page which you linked from a public comm. People who do that need to DIAF.

→ Incidentally DIAF is another of my pet peeves. It annoys the shit out of me. If "die in a fire" was something people said on a regular basis, maybe the acronym would make sense and not just seem like some trendy pointless thing. Everyone who disagrees can just COMUFOR. That stands for choke on my unforgiving fists of rage. I just made that up, Bebe.

→ I swear, I'm a nice person.

→ I have meant to mention this but I never have. I hope you guys know that my lj memories is where I bookmark lots of stuff that I read/watch/want to rec/use/like/love etc. And they're pretty well organized too. So feel free to browse through those any time. I do forget to bookmark stuff a good majority of the time, but I've been keeping that for quite a while so there's a lot of stuff to browse through if you're ever bored.

krickets: (DAISIES. i can feel you)
[livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic posted this really adorable video of Ellen and Portia's wedding right here. So lovely. I hope my mom got to see that. She loves Ellen.

→ I think... I think... I may actually be close to writing something soon. I've been reading some fic over the past few days, and it's been giving me lots of motivation. I hadn't been doing much reading lately. Maybe that was my problem all along!

→ I love the hell out of Joshua Jackson. (I was always a Pacey girl.) But I don't know if I can bring myself to watch The Fringe. I mean, I just don't think it's my kind of thing and I watch too much frakking television anyway. Who knows, I may change my mind.

→ However, I did watch True Blood and really liked it! I mean there were parts that I wasn't in love with, but the parts that I did like really made up for it. I'm anxious to see the rest of the season. Also? Speaking of HBO shows, I'm really excited that Entourage is back. But after rewatching all of season 1 and half of season 2 with [livejournal.com profile] dayln03 I realize now that maybe it's not as good as it used to be. This makes me sad. But I will still watch!

→ I pre-ordered the Pushing Daisies DVDs today (I'd been putting it off) and I am so excited for that show to come back I can hardly stand it. It makes me feel warm and happy and giddy and nostalgic and sad and everything. (I'm also really excited for Friday Night Lights to start back up, even though I'm afraid they're gonna frak it up this time around.)

→ I think I may drop out of [livejournal.com profile] bsg_lims. It's not the pressure or the fear that I won't do well. (I never thought I'd get this far, really.) But I honestly hate having to vote for my least favorite icons and give reasons why. It's actually painful. I spend far too much time thinking about what to vote and why and how to word it so I don't hurt anyone's feelings... and it kind of just makes me feel like a big douchebag. And feeling like a douche bag is not exactly on my list of fun things to do.

→ Things at the library are going really well. It's been busy, but I'm enjoying the challenges and I really enjoy helping people. Their gratitude is so rewarding. The only thing I don't enjoy is the fact that it's the third week and people are still coming to me baffled that we don't own and won't lend out textbooks. But I'm hoping I won't have to answer those types of questions for very much longer.
