*sigh* Oh for fuck's sake. Look, misogyny is EVERYFUCKINGWHERE. Breaking it down like that doesn't change it; it just annoys the people who choose to look past it and makes you look like a man-hater. I'm sorry, but I couldn't even get through that thing, despite the fact that I was trying to read it objectively (since I have never seen a single thing in Joss-verse, Firefly included).

What the author of that is completely MISSING is that some women choose to use their sexuality to make money and get the things they want. Perhaps Inara(?) chooses this life. I don't know the show or movie or whatever it is and I probably never will, but I have known numerous women who choose this route in life and enjoy it. For _allecto_ to rip on it simply because the character in question was created by a man? Is insulting, at best.

Just my two cents on the little bit of it I could read without rolling my eyes.

ETA: I read some of the comments at the bottom out of morbid curiosity and I found that the one person who was willing to say that they disagreed with her view was indirectly referred to as "pro-prostitution" and was told that all further pro-prostitution comments would be deleted. Apparently _allecto_ doesn't realize that if you use a fandom as an example for controversial opinions, sometimes people are going to disagree with you.

I like your comment. It really bothered me that she considers any woman who is paid for sex to be 'raped'. No matter how much choice she has, how much control over the situation or control of her own body, its still rape. Hmm. I suppose that gay male prostitutes are always raped too?

Sex is designed to be pleasurable. In general, a woman's body is designed to be attractive to a man, and if a woman uses her body to get what she wants, good for her. As long as it is HER choice, yes. But painting everything as rape with one giant brush is wrong to me. Rape is non-con. Simple.
